Ozone Layer Map
The ozone layer is a part of the stratosphere at the height of 12 to 50 km (in tropical latitudes – 25 to 30 km, in temperate latitudes – 20 to 25, in polar latitudes – 15 to 20), where the molecular oxygen (О2), affected by ultraviolet solar radiation, dissociates into atoms which then combine with other molecules О2 and generate ozone (О3). A relatively low ozone concentration (about 8 ml/m³) absorbs dangerous ultraviolet rays and protects all overland living organisms against destructive radiation.
